High-strength gypsum binders are the best basis for the production of modern dry building mixes
The production of dry building mixes (various product groups) in Russia shows a positive trend. Considering the dynamics of gypsum-based CCC production, we can note an increase in the output of plasters in 2012 compared to 2011 by 15%, putties by 18%, mounting glue by 7%, floor levelers by 25%*, which indicates their demand.
In order to meet the ever-growing needs of customers, the CCC manufacturer constantly improves the consumer properties of products by choosing gypsum binders, fillers, and functional additives. As a binder in gypsum mixtures, construction or high - strength gypsum based on β and α-calcium sulfate semihydrate is used. What is the reason for the choice?
The use of high-strength gypsum in the formulation of dry building mixes makes it possible to give the products high strength, no shrinkage and cracking, and high adhesion.
Self-leveling floor based on high-strength gypsum has a strength of up to 25 MPa, i.e. 2.5 times higher than on construction gypsum. Due to the special hydrothermal treatment of gypsum stone, the self-leveling floor with high-strength gypsum has a better flow rate of up to 50%. The percentage of gypsum binder input for α - and β - gypsum differs significantly: for the production of a floor based on high-strength gypsum, the binder and filler are mixed in the proportion of 30/70, and for construction gypsum the ratio is 80/20. Since the formulation on β-gypsum requires a much larger amount of plasticizers that ensure flowability , the final cost of the formulation on "cheap" construction gypsum will be significantly higher.
The combination of high-strength and construction gypsum in the plaster formulationmakes it possible to increase the plasticity of the mixture when it is applied. The strength of such plasters is up to 10 Mpa, which makes it possible to introduce more light fillers into the formulation. The advantage of using a high-strength gypsum binder in the production of plasters is obvious, since the consumption of the mixture is reduced by up to 25% per 1 sq. m. When the plaster layer is glossy, more gypsum "milk" is released than in plaster produced exclusively on beta-gypsum.
The use of α-gypsum in the production of putties is also due to the high whiteness of the binder. Guaranteed grinding fineness is not more than 1% on a 0.2 mm screen due to special separation of gypsum during production. Putty on fine-ground gypsum is applied in a smooth layer, without streaks, which reduces the cost of re-leveling. In particular, the use of high-strength gypsum in putty for sealing GKL joints allows you to achieve high bending strength of at least 6 MPa, compression of at least 15 MPa, which as a result avoids the use of reinforcing meshes.
Mounting glue based on α-gypsum has a high strength of the adhesive seam, which provides additional reinforcement of the resulting structure. Due to the fine dispersion, it is possible to putty joints with the same mounting glue.
High-strength gypsum binders are eco-friendly, harmless to humans, regulate the humidity level and create a comfortable microclimate in the room, in the construction of which gypsum building elements are used.
