Thailand's Thai Gypsum Products stabilizes after Bangkok coup
Thai manufacturer Thai Gypsum Products Plc (TGP), a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, expects sales of its construction and finishing materials Gyproc to grow by 5% in 2014. The reason for this should be the rapid growth of the Thai construction and repair market.
The commercial director of the company clarified that the demand from the housing sector has already increased significantly recently since 2013, and the provincial markets provide and will continue to provide good sales, despite the political problems and unrest in Bangkok.
Prior to that, in 2014, TGP experienced a slight decline in sales due to long-term socio-political problems in the country, which prevented many people from buying real estate in Thailand. But according to the management, this decline concerns only the capital's market.
Today, Gyproc products are available in 400 shopping centers across the country, which creates a high brand awareness among homeowners and contractors. The company plans to expand the distribution area of its products: in 2014, Gyproc will be available on the island of Phuket, and it is also planned to develop sales in the markets of Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Australia.
