Production and installation process of gypsum stucco molding

The production process of plaster stucco molding traditionally includes three stages:

• Modeling is the process of creating a model of a product, a sample of any decorative element. The model can be made according to a drawing, sketch, or photo. It is removed from the resulting sample, with the help of which the required number of decorative elements from gypsum is cast. The process of making a model is most often handled by a master model maker. In addition to plaster, models can be made from clay, wax, plasticine and other soft and hard materials. Soft materials are more often used to create models of exterior stucco, and hard materials, especially gypsum, are used for interior decoration. According to their functionality, models are divided into three — dimensional and flat, and the texture is divided into ornamental and smooth.
• Molding is the use of a model to obtain the necessary shape relief, with which the required number of copies of the product will be cast in the future. The complexity of the mold and its appearance are determined by the molding method, the material of the mold and model, and the number of parts.
• Installation of plaster stucco molding and its pre-paint treatment. Before installation, stucco molding and walls are treated with water for impregnation, after which the preparation of gypsum mortar begins. The solution, as a rule, consists of gypsum, pufas and PVA glue, and must be a homogeneous mass without lumps, otherwise it will be impossible to achieve complete adhesion of decorative products to the wall. Next, the solution is applied to the product with a spatula, and it is firmly pressed to the surface and lapped. Lapping is done by carefully shifting a couple of millimeters from side to side — in this way, excess mortar is removed from under the stucco molding, which is immediately removed with a rag or spatula, and places with complex terrain are treated with a brush. Sometimes, especially during the installation of plaster stucco on the ceiling, additional fasteners are used.
