The problem of shortage of gypsum raw materials
40 of the largest deposits are being developed in Russia. Quarries with a production volume of 500 thousand tons of gypsum stone per year have crushing and sorting factories equipped with powerful excavators and vehicles.
Enterprises with gypsum production of more than 100 thousand tons per year have a cost of 1 ton of gypsum 1.5-2 times lower compared to plants producing gypsum up to 50 thousand tons.
However, today the existing gypsum quarries do not meet the increasing demand of specialized enterprises and agriculture for gypsum. Some plants do not receive tens of thousands of tons of stone, as a result of which the capacity of installed equipment is used incompletely (up to 12%).
Solving the problem of gypsum shortage involves not only developing new quarries and improving the efficiency of existing ones, but also expanding the practice of using secondary raw materials from gypsum waste.
