Report of the Ministry of Regional Development on progress in construction in 2013

The Ministry of Regional Development has prepared a report on the state of the construction industry in 2013. According to the ministry, the construction industry last year showed successful indicators. Against the background of an increase in industrial production by 0.3 % compared to 2012, an increase in agricultural production – by 6.2 %, in housing construction, the increase was 10.3 %: so many more apartments were built in 2013 compared to last year.

The production of many types of building materials also showed a good level: the production of wooden building structures increased by 55 %, glass and ceramic tiles-by 17 %, building bricks-by 6 %, cement-by 8 %, precast concrete and reinforced concrete - by 8.3 %.

In general, in the country for the type of activity" Construction " in 2013, work was performed by 206 billion rubles more than in 2012 (5917.2 billion rubles against 5711.8 billion rubles).

Gross value added in the construction sector increased from 3.5 trillion rubles in 2012 to 3.7 trillion rubles in 2013: today it is 6.5 % of the total gross value added.
