State of the Russian gypsum materials market

Today in Russia, due to the growth of construction, there is also an increase in demand for building materials. This also applies to the market of the most popular gypsum material — drywall, which directly depends on the construction and repair market. Drywall is a relatively inexpensive material that is very popular and in demand among both individuals and large construction companies.

The drywall market reached its maximum development before the crisis of 2008 and began to develop actively in recent years. Also in demand are materials based on various types of drywall that compensate for the shortcomings of the original material, as well as alternative materials: gypsum fiber sheets, glass-magnesium sheets, gypsum particle boards, aquapanels.

As experts and marketers note, today the gypsum market in Russia is the market of one player, the German company Knauf CIS, which as of 2012 occupied 63% of the market. The remaining market shares are distributed among large Russian companies: Volma (14% of the market), Samara Gypsum Plant (4%), Decor-1, Gipsopolymer, etc.
